Position Summary
The Communications and Events Coordinator will engage internal and external stakeholders â“ including students, faculty, staff, community partners, and more â“ while assisting with developing and executing the Physics Departments strategies and related marketing and promotional materials. Coordinates the Physicsâ™ department events program including working with faculty and staff across the organization to manage and support event details and logistics, and setup registration.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists with the creation, execution, and evaluation of the strategic communications and marketing plan for the Physics department, targeting internal and external audiences, including writing and editing content, outreach tactics and related materials with the Manager of Financial Operations. Develop, design, and produce visual graphics, campaigns, advertising, and materials which further the communications strategy and adhere to the Arts and Sciences and University brand guidelines.
Organizes weekly events throughout the semester for faculty and students.
Works with faculty and students to assist with planning, marketing, and assessment of those events.
Develops resources for faculty such as an organizationâ™s event manual and related resources, and creates and prints promotional and support materials for events such as flyers, posters, banners, digital signage, events signage etc.
Maintains the events calendar for internal planning as well as any potential public events, physicsâ™ website, and adds event details to other external listings as warranted.
Assists with coordinating vendors (A/V, catering, rentals, etc.) as needed and advise physics faculty, students and staff on event planning, including student engagement activities.
Assists with preparing and tracking budgets for events and related expenses.
Assists in event setup including making coffee, ordering/delivering refreshments, shopping, etc.
Coordinates travel arrangements for guests.
Creates content and executes a dynamic social media presence in support of the strategy for key channels and creates graphics for social media outreach and digital signage as needed.
Ensures consistent messaging on all platforms and engage appropriately with audiences on social media as needed.
Collects and analyzes related metrics for social media activities.
Assists with managing projects. Participates in committees and groups across the physics department and the university to support events, promotions, and related outreach.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range
$21.17 - $32.85 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
