Provide general desktop support with a focus on technical support and maintenance for the College’s technology classrooms and meeting spaces on campus. This includes user support for those using the comprehensive technology environment and supporting the College’s initiative to embrace technology across the teaching and learning environment, administrative services, and residential living. Work will include daily troubleshooting of technology-related issues for all areas of campus and assisting all constituents, performing routine maintenance and testing of classroom equipment, and replacing faulty or failed equipment. Reports to the Helpdesk Team Leader as part of the user support team.
Essential Job Functions
Maintain and ensure full functionality of projection equipment, cabling, and computers (both Mac and PC) and system control products in classrooms and meeting spaces.
Arrange for equipment monitoring, support, repair, and/or replacement.
Maintain various audio/visual equipment (video cameras, DVD players, document cameras, sound systems) used by the campus in technology-enhanced spaces.
Demonstrates an appreciation of and commitment to further an inclusive culture for those of diverse backgrounds such as ability, age, class, ethnicity, faith background, gender expression, gender identity, geographic region, national origin, neurodiversity, race, and sexual orientation that comprise individual and group expressions of identity.
Provide “on the spot” technical support and professionally manage crisis-level situations.
Assist with audio and video delivery systems: Video-on-demand, web conferencing technologies, videoconferencing, and surveillance systems.
Assist with faculty, staff and student training and documentation.
Assist with management and training of student employees.
Marginal Job Functions:
Provide user desktop support to campus constituents.
Assist as necessary during periods of heavy event concentration.
Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned or as directed by the ITS Director.
Education and Experience
Work experience directly related to the environment described in this document required, preferably within the educational environment.
Bachelors degree or the equivalent.
Knowledge and Skills
Understanding of the technology requirements necessary to support the educational mission, administrative support, and residential life of a small liberal arts college.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with all campus constituent groups including faculty, staff, students, and guests of the College.
Ability to interact effectively with technology vendor partners.
Ability to communicate effectively on both technical and non-technical levels to faculty, students and staff is essential.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment or without direct oversight in the delivery of support to various constituents.
Working knowledge of Mac and PC operating systems, technology control products, and various audio/visual equipment
Physical Requirements:
Some lifting, pulling, and pushing of computer equipment is necessary.
Some equipment exceeds 50 pounds and requires appropriate handling procedures.
