The Technology Center Supervisor of the University Center works with Learning Space Operations to support Information Technologyâ™s pursuit of providing The New School community with top-notch customer service. The ideal candidate is patient, empathetic, communicative, and interested in learning the latest technology. Our team of Technology Center Supervisors can put themselves in the customersâ™ shoes and advocate for them when necessary. They are confident troubleshooting issues and investigating deeper to resolve customer complaints. The Technology Center Supervisor will work with and supervise student workers to maintain the operational support of our spaces.

This is a 1205 Professional position subject to the terms and conditions agreed to in the collective bargaining agreement between Teamsters Local 1205 and The New School.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct oversight and training of Student Workers providing first tier support and customer service working in tandem with the Manager to ensure services are running as intended. Train, supervise, lead and mentor part time staff and student workers.
Understanding of Audio Visual equipment including projectors, cameras, lighting, printing, scanning, computers and software, audio recording, and microphones.
Expected to perform quality control of equipment, reservation systems, tracking repairs, printing systems, and facilities work order, to ensure follow up by appropriate staff.
Manage checkout and return of equipment and rooms. Monitor inventory of consumables (paper, toner, pens) and ensure they are replaced as needed.
Administrative tasks according to assigned focus areas. Tasks include records keeping, part-time schedule hour tracking, testing new systems and other seasonal projects in preparation for the start of each academic term, finals and overnight support.
Adhere to policies on vacation use limitations. (Blackout periods during finals, etc.)
Meet professional expectations such as schedule, check in/check out, shift reports, etc.
Other projects and duties as assigned. Â
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Clear and professional verbal, written and email communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with the management team, other supervisors and the center staff, following Information Technology and University protocols.
Work independently and with teammates as needed.
Defuse/mediate conflict towards resolution and handle challenging moments with composure and grace.
Efficiently and effectively manage time.
Ability to do physical work including but not limited to moving equipment, setting up equipment, capable of lifting approximately 50 lbs.
Maintain an up-to-date, working knowledge of Windows and Mac Platforms, MS Office, including Excel and Word, Printers and plotters, Audio/Video equipment and other software and hardware as required per location. Â
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Environment, especially higher education.
Printing and plotter management, including photographs, fabric prototypes, and multimedia print management. Â
WORK MODE
On-Campus Position - Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely. #LI-ONSITE
Work hours: Regular weekly schedule that can include weekend and evening shifts.
