Technician I: Associates degree in computer science, media production, or a related field. One year of experience in a related field. Certifications may be required by the department. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Technician II: Bachelor's degree in computer science, media production, or a related field. Two years of experience in a related field . Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems and standards, including Windows, Mac OS, Crestron, Extron, or Polycom, Microsoft Office, printers, basic multimedia systems and e-mail applications knowledge is required. Certifications may be required by the department. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Positions will be located at The Woodlands Center, and Huntsville, TX main campus.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Technician I: Installs and maintains audio visual equipment including Audio Visual (AV) solutions such as: Control System Automation, Room Monitoring Systems, Lecture Capture, Live Event Production, Digital Sound Processing, Video Conferencing and Digital Signage.
Technician II: Supports and maintains duties of a Technician I, provides support, assistance and oversight to internal university parties and external contractors over Audio Visual (AV) projects for classrooms, conference rooms, and other instructional spaces.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Technician I: Provides Tier I support for Audio Video/IT related incidents. Documents issues in a ticketing database and helps develop knowledge base for known issues and resolutions. Provides real-time troubleshooting and resolutions of Audio Visual (AV) issues in of technology in classrooms, conference rooms, event spaces, and other areas for campus. Advises instructors and staff on use of classroom and conference room equipment. Provides logistical support and customer support hospitality assistance for University Specials events when needed. Installs and maintains AV infrastructure, including cabling and termination, and provides comprehensive support for AV equipment such as projectors and audio systems. Performs inventory audits, conducts room checks, and ensures all AV systems are fully operations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Technician II:
Provides Tier I and Tier II support for Audio Video/IT related incidents. Documents issues in a ticketing database and helps develop knowledge base for known issues and resolutions. Provides real-time troubleshooting and resolutions of Audio Visual (AV) issues of technology in classrooms, conference rooms, event spaces, and other areas for campus. Advises instructors and staff on use of classroom and conference room equipment. Provides logistical support and customer support hospitality assistance for University Specials events when needed. Installs and maintains AV infrastructure, including cabling and termination, and provides comprehensive support for AV equipment such as projectors and audio systems. Performs inventory audits, conducts room checks, and ensures all AV systems are fully operations. Collaborates with university departments to determine their audio-visual needs and suggests integration methods. Conveys department needs to outside vendors when needed to obtain quotes for the department. Reviews quotes for accuracy of work to be performed. Evaluates and communicates system and cost requirements to university departments. Perform all of the duties of the Technician I. Performs other related duties as assigned.
