The Highlights The Media Systems Administrator is responsible for managing Windows and OSX operating systems and applications in support of media creation, production, post-production, and distribution. The Administrator will conduct hardware installations, operating system installations, and software installations in classrooms, labs, and specialized media production and post-production facilities throughout CDM. Responsible for system services setup and maintenance, user administration, and end user support. Ensure data and media recoverability by implementing and performing system backups. Proactively monitor systems and troubleshoot interruptions, conduct hardware and software audits, and maintain growth statistics, inventories, and metrics. Develop long-term hardware and software maintenance, recommend policies, and create acquisition plans for college and provide on-site technical support when needed.
Is This You?
Develop, execute, and maintain media production software and hardware in various specialized environments like classrooms and post-production labs, including compatibility testing, long-term acquisition planning, and performance optimization. Install, configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain systems and applications.
Coordinate system support, including on-site troubleshooting in active teaching spaces and crafting best-practices, FAQ, user guide, and other documentation for learning and non-expert users.
Research state-of-the-art software and develops relationships with software developers and vendors.
Develop scripts, service checks, and automated processes for systems and monitor day to day performance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
BS in Computer Science or related field (or considerable work experience) is required, MS is preferred.
3 years experience in modern media production or post production, including modern collaborative work-flows, deliverables, and media playback technologies, is required.
Hires and manages student workers as needed.
Other Skills & Abilities Required
Must be able to troubleshoot basic to moderately complex technical problems spanning a variety of technical disciplines.
Familiarity with the following software products: Adobe Creative Cloud, Avid Media Composer and Pro Tools, Autodesk Maya, Nuke, and Logic. Knowledge of performance optimization, analysis, characterization, and benchmarking. Experience with Jamf. Ability to work in diverse team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to educate.
