The Classroom Control System Programmer will be the functional lead audio visual programmer responsible for programming, servicing, supporting, and administering various A/V systems on the MTSU campus including, but not limited to, learning spaces, computer labs, conference and event spaces, and other related areas containing A/V control systems and interfaces. These systems are technically complex and require knowledge and experience with multiple programming modalities and manufacturer specific code. Changes in systems programming is required any time specific hardware components are either installed, replaced, or upgraded within these spaces. This position also provides professional guidance and project management for the design and installation of new and existing A/V control systems to ensure complete functionality of the equipment at the project’s completion. Extensive knowledge of multiple programming and scripting languages, audio and visual control systems, sound engineering, digital signal processing systems, and GUI driven control interfaces is necessary to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of this position. Finally, this position will be required to assist in project planning of new buildings, building renovations, and modifications to campus learning spaces and conference rooms.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree preferably in computer science, engineering, information systems or related area is required. An associate’s degree preferably in related area and six (6) years direct work experience or a high school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE) and eight (8) years of direct work experience may also be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Required Related Experience
Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience programming audio visual control systems using APIs, drivers, modules, variables, and various programming languages. Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial A/V systems and microcomputers (Mac/Windows) and peripherals required.

Extron Control Professional Certification
Desirable Related Experience
Experience programming and installing control interfaces; QSC, Crestron, or Extron control units preferred. Prior experience with digital signage is preferred. Experience programming A/V over IP systems and divisible rooms. Experience with Python Global Scripter. Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Audio gain structure experience.
Desirable License/Registration/Certification
Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification. Extron A/V Associate certification. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification. Extron Authorized Programmer certification. QSC Control certification.
