Department INDIANA MEMORIAL UNION (BA-IMAU-IUBLA) Department Information The Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) is located at the heart of the IU Bloomington campus. Whether a home away from home for the IU community, or a gateway for visitors, the IMU welcomes all. The Indiana Memorial Union Meeting Services Department is responsible for the handling all functions related to meeting support within the IMU, which hosts thousands of events every year. The IMU has over 50,000 square feet of meeting space which can be utilized for student events, classroom space, weddings, parties, meetings and more. Job Summary The Set-Up Coordinator is a member of the IMU team that is responsible for the on-site customer service experience as well as the set-up of physical furnishings and technology in the Indiana Memorial Union function rooms. This person is the on-site Meeting Support Services departmental contact for the client. Works directly with the client once they are physically in IMU function rooms to respond to their potential changes in set, technology needs, emergencies, and last minute needs for their event. Typical furnishings include tables, chairs, staging, sound equipment, AV equipment, room lights, and miscellaneous other items. This position verifies the set is in accordance with the client's specifications, that all equipment is set, tested and fully operational. This position also organizes and oversees the hourly, student and part-time employees assigned to the specific work shift. Responsible for other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED and one year of set-up/technology support or facility support experience. Interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a wide diversity of individuals, and the ability to remain polite and responsive. Comfortable making decisions that directly influence the IMU customer service reputation, which directly affects the department's ability to generate bookings and revenue. Preferred Qualifications College degree. Proficient computer skills, including software and internet. Experience with laptops, printers, two-way radios, sound systems, projection equipment, LCD projectors, microphones. Experience at a conference center or in a conference/meeting facility. Working Conditions / Demands Remaining stationary, traveling around work area, bending, stooping, lifting up to 75 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, climbing a ladder. Communication via phone, radio, face to face.
