Summary Education Program Mgr - Learning Strategies P.4
Responsible for leading teams of inter-departmental and outside subject matter experts in the design, development and implementation of conferences, meetings and other types of education programs for NRECA's membership, using a wide range of educational technologies and delivery channels. These programs are designed to deliver and facilitate high-impact learning experiences that set the standard for cooperative performance and empower cooperative leaders and staff to effectively guide their organizations and communities into the future. This position manages budgets, is accountable for the full scope of program management from inception through build, marketing, delivery and evaluation, and collaborates across the department, NRECA and the co-op network
Purpose and Mission
Program Management of Education Programs (conferences, meetings, orientations, courses, webinars, workshops, and online programs) * Collaborates with member advisory groups, internal and external subject matter experts and other stakeholders to determine the needs, scope, content, and delivery method of the program/event (e.g., in-person or online conferences, orientations, courses, seminars, etc.). * Organizes and manages advisory committees or other meetings relating to assigned programs/events and facilitates meetings (on and off site) for assigned programs/events such as program review discussions. * Formulates the education program's purpose, analyzes the audience, and develops the value propositions, goals and learning objectives. * Conducts program review cycles and subject-matter expert ideation meetings. Researches and identifies speakers, subject-matter experts and potential instructors to deliver high impact educational content. * Incorporates innovative instructional strategies, learning delivery channels and practices to improve the effectiveness of education program development, learning application and retention. * Collaborates with the Learning Management System (LMS) administrator for online program set-up, testing, program delivery, and post event activities. As needed, supports online programs as an LMS sub-administrator and/or live online event producer. * Works with the marketing department in design, development and execution of multi-channel marketing plans and strategies promote education programs. * Collaborates with E&T staff to determine continuing education credit offerings for education programs (e.g., CLE, CPE, CPM/CPSM, PDH, PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CEBS, CMS, and CAP/CPS); oversees implementation and fulfillment. * Collaborates with E&T colleagues in development of learning aids and collateral material to prepare the learner for the event and follow-up programs to help the learner retain and implement the learning post event. Utilizes the LMS and/or other technology-enabled systems to deploy learning aids. * Conducts evaluations of programs. Analyzes actual results compared to budgets and goals. Uses participant feedback to inform content revisions, develop future education programs and in marketing materials to communicate the program's value proposition. * Manages the budget for assigned programs and is responsible for meeting assigned net revenue margins and identifying potential new revenue streams.
Design/Development of Educational Resources * Researches, designs and develops or co-develops innovative education programs, products and services, that compliment NRECA's executive and staff education portfolio, in particular those that support Core Competencies in the Electric Cooperative Employee Competency Model. These programs and resources include web conferences, online courses, podcasts and other technology-enabled learning channels to help leverage content from in-person programs and generate revenue through online learning. * Coordinates with the internal learning management system (LMS) administrator or administrator of an external vendor's platform on the specific needs of online programs to ensure the hosting platform's capabilities match the needs of each individual program. * Leverage the LMS to provide management and delivery of learning activities using adult learning practices. * Consults with advisory groups, stakeholders, and subject-matter experts to determine the needs, scope, content, and delivery method (e.g in-person, online) of the program depending on the needs of the audience. * Designs and conducts need assessments and/or market research to identify education needs that will enhance the effectiveness and success of the cooperative network. Uses this information to revise current and/or develop new education programming. * Participates in non-NRECA sponsored electric utility events and trade shows for purposes of networking, identifying potential partner opportunities, subject-matter experts, and speakers and otherwise collecting information that can be used to develop new and enhance existing NRECA programs. * Builds relationships with member cooperative employees and network partners, including Associate Members and exhibitors, to stay on top of trends, challenges, opportunities and issues that impact electric cooperatives.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in education, communications, business, accounting, or utility industry related degree. * Association for Talent Development (ATD), American Society for Association Executives (ASAE) certification or equivalent and/or professional certification or licensure a plus. * 5 - 7 years experience in designing, developing and managing conferences and meetings and other types of education programs (in-person and online programs). * Experience working with competency frameworks and using them to develop curriculum and programs. * Experience in using a Learning Management System (LMS) or similar technology for design and delivery of programs and online collaboration tools (such as threaded discussion boards, and social networking, mobile learning technology) desired. * Employment experience in a member-based organization's (association) educational department and experience managing externally contracted projects a plus. Experience with the CrowdWisdom LMS a plus. * Experience with the CommPartners, Freestone, WebExTraining, Zoom or GoToTraining platforms a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (as demonstrated by prior work experience): * Knowledge of all aspects of conference and meeting program management including budgets, session design, speaker acquisition, registration, marketing and communication, mobile apps, A-V and meeting logistics. * Knowledge of instructional design theory, models and best practices for both in-person and online education program development. * Knowledge of adult learning concepts. * Knowledge of learning management systems (LMSs) features and functionality. * Knowledge of development and delivery tools such as InDesign, PowerPoint, Adobe Premiere and Articulate 360. * Ability leading functional teams without direct supervisory authority over team members. * Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple education programs at various stages of development using effective organization skills and attention to detail. * Ability to produce innovative education programs that meet learners' needs and enhances their on-the-job performance while producing positive revenue results. * Ability to organize and manage time, operate under pressure and prioritize projects (or work) using effective organizational skills. * Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership, employees and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner. * Ability to develop and deliver effective and engaging presentations. * Ability to anticipate internal and or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product or service improvements. * Ability to work with a wide variety of people to foster cooperation in sharing information and materials. * Ability to operate various office equipment such as personal computer, copier, printer, fax machine or other job related equipment. * Ability to travel. * Ability to effectively interact with others and work in a team environment and providing follow-up when needed. * Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) and other job related software (such as Adobe Acrobat) in the day-to-day essential duties of the job.
ADA Requirements: * The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; creating educational materials, transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. * Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
