George Mason University, Information Technology Services (ITS), located on the Fairfax, Va., campus, invites applications for a Project Coordinator position within the Learning Support Services, Learning Space Design team. The Project Coordinator works collaboratively with the Learning Space Design Manager and the AV Engineer/Project Managers to support the needs of classroom instructional support, design, and implementation of University classroom technology standards. The Project Coordinator supports the daily administrative operations for the Learning Space Design projects. Project work encompassing informal learning spaces and conference rooms is included within this description, as well as, research projects that explore new and entrepreneurial approaches to teaching and learning. It is imperative that the Project Coordinator has the planning and coordination skills to successfully support multiple ongoing and ad-hoc activities that contribute to these learning spaces in order to achieve successful outcomes.
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology or a technically related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
General computer skills and Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project;
Knowledge of computing technologies and audiovisual equipment;
Strong proof reading skills with ability to prepare documentation in a professional and timely manner;
Very strong multi-tasking and organizational skills;
Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills;
Experience working in a project team environment to complete complex assignments with tight deadlines;
Basic SharePoint experience; and
Experience in the use of design and development of detailed spreadsheets.
Knowledge of instructional methods and the uses of technology to enhance that instruction;
PMP, CAPM or ability to obtain CAPM certification within first year of employment;
InfoComm CTS certification or ability to obtain certification within first year of employment;
Experience managing projects in a Higher Education environment; and
Experience managing projects with Microsoft Project.
