Administer CTS’s digital signage system as implemented across the Twin Cities campus and at various system campus locations. This includes installation of players, troubleshooting and repair of systems, training of users, and maintenance of user data, access, and contracts. Position will also serve as back up for more general AV service needs.
Digital Signage: (60%)
Prioritize assigned tasks on a daily basis to develop and create a schedule that accommodates all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
Set up newly purchased or repurposed digital signage players with software, assign IP addresses for player installations, install players, and confirm setup with testing using established procedures.
Setup of remote access and monitoring Digital Signage players from CTS offices.
Update and upgrade Digital Signage players to latest service packs and security updates.
Maintain and troubleshoot all digital signage systems to ensure proper operation of all locations across all five U of M campuses. Includes field visits on Twin Cities campus.
Utilize Service Gateway to identify jack information and work to resolve any issues with jacks in wrong VLANs, and identify activation and other information as necessary to make network connections work for digital signage.
Adding/Removing/Adjusting User access to Digital Signage System, keeping accurate records for all users and customer information.
Database administration for accurate records of all current locations, and technical information (IP addresses, serial numbers, MAC addresses)
Provide technical support for all Digital Signage System Users.
Maintain yearly service contracts with customers, including processing billing.
Work independently to schedule new installations, player replacements, and player maintenance, in coordination with the Production team.
Build, foster, and maintain positive individual customer relationships when working with all assigned CTS customers.
Communicate with customers concerning the affected repairs and maintenance services performed and any pertinent information about their system operation which would be beneficial to the customer.
Solicit feedback when in contact with customers about the performance and overall satisfaction and report back to CTS management.
Coordinate proper completion and submission of all paperwork associated with daily direct assignments in accordance with established procedures.
Document processes and procedures to allow other technicians to maintain digital signage in employee’s absence.
Complete and accurate submission of time card on a daily basis based on time spent on individual projects.
Submit recommendations to CTS management regarding digital signage equipment and software as technologies change and evolve.
Technology Maintenance and Repair: (35%)
Respond to general service/repair calls when other technicians are not available.
Potential to be assigned to assist on new installations if other technicians are not available.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform repair work of audiovisual equipment according to industry standards.
Increase knowledge and understanding of performing troubleshooting and repairs of customized presentation technology systems.
Work independently of direct supervision when performing and diagnosing field repair problems.
Assist other technicians and departmental personnel as necessary to achieve established departmental goals.
Participate as an active contributing member on all assigned team projects.
Assist as directed with the sales and marketing of the CTS department.
Perform other duties, as assigned by management.

Completion of a two-year technical school program related to electrical or mechanical systems plus a minimum of four years of work experience in this specialized field, OR a BS degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and one year of related work experience.
Experience should include low voltage installation.
Currently in the process of obtaining (Registered), or possess, a valid current State of Minnesota Power Limited Technician license.
Ability to lift and carry 60 lbs. Able to bend, kneel, and climb ladders.
Ability to maintain composure in slow-paced and fast-paced daily activities.
Ability to think, troubleshoot, and make sound low voltage installation decisions in changing situations.
Ability to incorporate new technology concepts and procedures into daily assigned repair and maintenance activities.
Ability to communicate effectively as needed to work with individuals with a wide variety of knowledge and skill levels.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and keep all tasks moving forward at all times.
Extensive prior experience with standard laptop computer set-up and associated software involving PowerPoint presentation and LCD image projection.
Experience with installations, repair, and maintenance of conferencing technologies.
