The Information and Instructional Technology Manager II reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Workforce Solutions and is responsible for engaging the college community in the innovative and effective use of information technology in support of the teaching, administrative, and service goals of the college. This is a hands-on position with responsibilities including, but not necessarily limited to: Serves as the collegeâs Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Instructional Technologist. Works directly with faculty to build and produce online courses and material and to select appropriate media and presentation tools for in-class delivery. The incumbent consults with faculty and instructional designers, recommends media and tools, and advises on multimedia production issues. Assists faculty and staff with options for presenting instructional materials or presentations using a variety of software applications. Serves as development resource and produces documentation and training material in response to instructional needs. In collaboration with appropriate department staff, assists with the administration of the Learning Management System. Researches new instructional technologies for viability within instructional/classroom setting and advises management on equipment and training needs. Makes recommendations to departments and/or the campus regarding IT equipment purchases. As the collegeâs Chief Information Officer, the incumbent creates, develops and executes the collegeâs annual Technology Plan and various report documentation. Provides college-wide leadership for all technology and information systems and related areas, academic information systems, administrative information systems, web-based services and development, desktop support, administrative applications support, communications networks, network infrastructure (to include network, server, and virtualization technologies), VOIP services, h.323, multimedia support and development, and audio/visual services. Serve on the Collegeâs Emergency Operations Administrative Management Team with a significant role in the development and execution of the Collegeâs Continuity of Operations Plan. Manage state and third-party cloud services to include IaaS and SaaS products. Work with college deans and faculty to provide instructional technology products for teaching and learning. Implement and manage college IT policies and procedures that align with VCCS policy. Manage vendor relationships.
