The AV Support Specialist provides first line support for the use of church audio visual (AV) services, primarily by outside events. Appropriate elements of this support are also offered to lay leadership, congregants, and outside groups when using church facilities. The position also participates in the maintenance and update of AV equipment including standalone and in-room projection systems.
Provide first level contact and problem resolution for all staff and lay users with equipment, set up, networking, hardware, software, as applicable, application issues.
Support staff, members, and outsider presenter use of all AV equipment available for general use. Support levels include telephone instruction, written documentation, and side-by-side support.
Assist with live streaming of worship and special services, as needed.
This support may require on-site presence during non-standard business hours. It may also require assistance in the use of member and outside presenter BYOD equipment.
Coordinate with others at Fourth Church and outside supplier personnel, escalating issues when appropriate.
Test equipment before an event to ensure all components are compatible and working.
Maintain appropriate records of pending and completed support requests for AV needs.
Participate in training and coaching of all supported users, both staff and congregants.
Participate in implementation and roll out efforts for new technology services offered by Fourth Presbyterian Church, including those offered to members.
Provide backup to third party IT consultant(s)
Support understanding and self-sufficiency by encouraging all users to follow guidelines for application self-help and peer support.
Use the S.P.I.R.I.T. principles of hospitality when interacting with visitors, guests, members, and staff of Fourth Presbyterian Church and Chicago Lights
Other duties, as assigned as needed.
Schedule: Part time
This position can average 10 – 15 hours per week with regular shift on Sunday, availability for on-call events on Saturday, Sunday, and weeknights. Schedule flexibility is a must. Most events are scheduled well in advance.
High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
Experience in audio visual/graphic media/information technology environment.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of fundamental operation of relevant software, hardware, and networking.
Familiarity with basic AV equipment and its use including sound, projection, and recording
Previous help desk experience is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to handle and prioritize work in a multi-tasked environment, working with minimal supervision
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Flexible availability with some last minute scheduling.
Ability to maneuver in small spaces, such as under tables or on a ladder
Comfortable working in a multi-cultural and faith-based environment.
