Among its many responsibilities, the Office of University Relations develops institutional content that communicates the value of Salve Regina University among its various constituent groups. The Video Producer/Editor plays an integral role in the development and implementation of the University's strategic communications initiatives, continuously identifying ways to enhance integrated marketing communication (ICM) strategies and performance through video and multimedia production, new media technologies and various other means of digital communication.
The Video Producer/Editor will provide the creative talent and expertise needed to effectively communicate and promote University themes for the purposes of marketing and brand promotion in order to assist in broadening and enhancing the image and reputation of Salve Regina locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, produce, edit and maintain unique, original content highlighting Salve Regina student, faculty and alumni achievements for both graduate and undergraduate programs, campus events and successful learning/leadership outcomes in alignment with institutional marketing objectives and goals for advancement.
Work with the Director of Integrated Content and Production and the Sr. Director University Relations to identify key areas for content creation and curation.
Film specific University events and programs for the purpose of creating narrative videos and storylines that reflect the mission, values, goals and objectives of Salve Regina University for marketing communication purposes.
Collect and edit footage for promotional materials.
Work with cross-functional teams to communicate messaging, positioning and brand promise consistently throughout all assigned projects and initiatives.
Manage logistics essential to producing video projects, from location scouting and setup to coordinating interviews and other shoots with interview subjects. This also includes activities that contribute to the maintenance of a productive, organized and professional video communications operation for the University's YouTube and Vimeo video channels.
Attend relevant meetings and keep current on best practices and trends through professional development opportunities.
Maintain and update creative and technical skills to build knowledge of communication trends, best practices and regulations in the field.
Develop and promote best practices for Salve Regina University in the area of digital/video production across campus and provide oversight to content creators on how that work is publicly displayed for the benefit of the University.
Coordinate and collaborate with any other video producers working on behalf of Salve Regina University for creative use of shared assets.
Assist in maintaining an appropriate structure for the flow of communicative content internally and externally via www.salve.edu, as well as other platforms designated for the distribution of content such as social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more.
Contribute to the development and dissemination of ICM policies and provide direction and guidance in the development of video content for integrated marketing communication plans through advertising, content marketing, PR and social media to ensure the attainment of University objectives and the elevation of Salve Regina's brand.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate as a member of the Crisis Communication and Response Team and the Advertising Campaign Team.
Participate in a cross-functional environment for planning and prioritizing production work, and other projects tied to strategic communications for Salve Regina University.
Collaborate with the Salve Studios student organization for content creation by attending meetings and providing feedback on student production initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for University Relations/Chief Communications Officer, Vice President for University Relations and Advancement or the President of Salve Regina University.
Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Lifting of up to 50 lbs.
The Video Producer/Editor will have experience with all aspects of video production, from concept to completion, including storyboarding, scripting, directing, interviewing, videography and post-production. Knowledge of copyright, image permissions and fair use protocols for video resources are essential elements of the position, as are knowledge of graphics and animation.
Successful candidates must have at least two years of solid professional experience in the field. A bachelor's degree in Communications, Film and Television, or a related discipline preferred. Previous experience in the realm of education a plus.
This position requires strong communication skills and a proven background in video production and multimedia storytelling with a focus on composition and design. Knowledge of corporate identity and branding a plus.
Experience with video equipment and tools supporting video production, including cameras, lighting kits, and lavalier and shotgun microphones is necessary. Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite's Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Apple's Final Cut Pro and other A/V editing software.
Knowledge of software applications and photo-editing tools required. Knowledge of industry specific tools such as Image Ready and Photoshop, and proficiency in HTML strongly preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects independently are necessary. Ability to meet tight deadlines and willingness to respond to communication needs on a timely or emergency basis is essential. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills; knowledge of AP style a plus. Ability to work with and supervise students.
Ability to organize and keep track of large amounts of media.
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team setting- excellent communication and collaborative skills.
LICENSES TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Computer proficiency on both Macintosh and PC platforms required.
Proficiency with editing software, such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere.
Competency in filming technologies, lighting, cinematography, and interviewing.
Valid driver's license required.
