Assistant/Associate Professor - Preventive Medicine, Memphis - 19000001GE
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Department of Preventive Medicine, seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track or tenured epidemiologists at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
The position requires an active population science research program, strong quantitative training, and evidence of the ability to obtain or sustain independent or collaborative extramural funding.
Interested candidates should have demonstrated expertise in any area of cancer epidemiology and population sciences. This could include, for example, community interventions, outcomes research, bioinformatics, genomics, molecular, or behavioral research.
We also encourage candidates with research addressing questions in under-served populations, low-income populations, rural health, or health disparities.
The Department of Preventive Medicine is a transdisciplinary research department within the College of Medicine, and includes faculty with expertise in health psychology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, epidemiology, immunology, nutrition, addiction, cancer screening, health economics, and aging research.
Successful applicants will be expected to conduct collaborative and transdisciplinary research, maintain a strong publication record, and participate in intra- and inter programmatic activities in cancer research at UTHSC. The position is state-supported; however faculty are expected to develop significant salary support through a funded research program. The successful applicants will also have demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring and contribute to the research and teaching mission in the Department of Preventive Medicine.
* PhD, MD, DrPH, MD/PhD or equivalent with training in a population-health related field
* A track record of peer reviewed publications
* Current peer-reviewed funding related to cancer epidemiology (Associate Professor)
* Demonstrated evidence of research ability and sustaining an active research program
* A successful teaching experience related to epidemiology training
