The George Mason University, Science and Technology Event Department is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and energetic person for the Event Support and A/V Supervisor position.

Logistical coordination, advising, and management of event facilities including setups, portable sound/audio-visual equipment, in house audio/visual systems, on site event support, safety and security and event facility conditions;
The leadership, supervision, training and evaluation of several part-time wage and student staff;
Works with students, faculty and staff and through departmental event staff, ensures the delivery of services and facilities that meet the expectations of the department;
Responsible for ensuring safety of patrons, enforcing policies and procedures and providing public liaison-ship;
Collaborates with Event Coordinators to schedule equipment and personnel according to the needs of the customer's event;
Budget analysis for equipment and staffing;
Provides customers with an understanding of the details surrounding our support;
Serves on committees as needed;
Works as part of a team to collaborate with internal and external partners to support the mission of the University and reports directly to the Event Manager.
Outstanding interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse audience, including alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students, dignitaries and the university community;
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
Excellent project management skills and ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines;
Careful attention to detail with a high level of organized and analytical thinking;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products along with the ability to quickly adapt to other internal software training;
Detailed knowledge of audio and video applications for events. These include but are not limited to sound, lighting, projection and staging;
Ability to work collaboratively as a team player within the SciTech Campus Executive Office and as a representative of the university;
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed;
Knowledge of management/supervisory/leadership skills and ability to supervise part time staff and college students;
Knowledge of basic accounting principles;
Knowledge of Banner, scheduling system 25Live, or the ability to quickly adapt to other internal software training;
Significant experience working with Crestron and Extron Technology;
Personal integrity is essential, along with a commitment to the mission of George Mason University;
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Practical experience in event management;
Professional experience in meeting/event coordination, preferably in higher education, or related experience in an association, corporate or industry-related environment.
The following education and/or skill sets are preferred: Any event technology or rigging licenses is a benefit;
25 Live scheduling software knowledge and experience is a plus;
3 to 5 years experience working with Creston technology, setting up and operating Audio visual equipment, sound equipment, and lights;
At least 3 years experience supervising at least 10 part-time employees, to include scheduling, training, and communicating support needs for events;
At least 3 years experience coordinating and supervising all special event set-ups, operations and post-event equipment breakdowns.
Salary: $52,000 - $55,500 Commensurate with education and experience.
