This position provides hardware and software support related to interactive classroom technology and software as well as basic computer support for the UNC School of Medicine as part of the Academic Technology group within School of Medicine IT.
The primary job duties associated with this role include: -Support live events including setting up and troubleshooting interactive classroom and meeting room technology and software including presentation systems, video conferencing systems, lecture recording, classroom PCs, Lecture material, and audience response systems. -Work with faculty and distinguished speakers to orient them to new technologies -Develop and conduct trainings for supported technologies -Assist in technical support for interactive classroom and meeting room technologies -Assist in the setup, distribution, and maintenance of the medical student iPad program -Support high stakes exams by troubleshooting medical student laptops and secure exam software -Support SOM faculty, students, and staff in the identification and utilization of the appropriate technology to meet their needs -Conduct research and make recommendations on new technologies
Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position’s role. - Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Journey level requires an additional six months experience - Advanced level requires an additional one year of experience.
High level of demonstrated customer service skills.
Well-developed communication skills and professionalism
Knowledge of educational technology such as audience response systems, lecture capture, and learning management systems
Experience with basic audio-visual concepts
Experience with Windows and Macintosh operating systems
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Passion for emerging technology
Great work ethic and positive attitude
-4 year college degree -Prior experience in an educational technology or audiovisual support environment -Direct experience with supported technologies including: Webex/Zoom, Turning Point/Poll Everywhere, Sakai, Office 365 (OneNote, Teams, PPT), iPads, Integrated Classroom Technologies (AV systems)
