The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of design, pre-production, production, and post-production for exhibitions, electronic media, and special projects for the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture. Specific duties include: managing and supervising all design elements to be used within CADVC exhibitions including managing and supervising all purchasing of materials; overseeing fabrication and construction of all design elements and exhibition furniture; managing and supervising of all handling of artwork including completing condition reports, unpacking and repacking; supervising the installation and de-installation of all CADVC exhibitions; documentation of individual exhibitions, preparing individual CADVC exhibitions to travel; supervising all communication with crating and shipping companies; packing of artwork to travel; supervising the shipment of CADVC exhibitions; supervising and managing CADVC's website as well as all media pre-production and production; overseeing use of electronic media and formats for production, exhibition, and office use; supervising and maintaining computers, scanners, projection systems, video formats, cameras, software, networks, editing audio systems, acoustics editing, and remastering materials; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Masters degree
Must be able to: lift at least 50 pounds; be able to bend down to complete a designated work activity; crawl to complete a designated work activity; and walk and stand frequently during the completion of the fabrication, installation, and presentation of an exhibition. This position requires a high degree of coordination and dexterity for the successful completion of a wide range of tasks involving the installation of two-dimensional and three-dimensional fine art as well as sensitive audio and audio-visual equipment.
The position of Exhibition and Technology Designer prefers that the person be fully competent in the handling of a wide range of industrial grade machines and tools including: table saws, planar saws, band saws, floor mounted drill presses, industrial grade air compressors, winch and pulley systems, all manner of hand tools and measuring devices, rigging and scaffolding, as well as all manner and style of PC and Apple computers and associated computer software.
