Brown Universityâ™s Office of University Communications (OUC) seeks a Video Producer who is a strong visual storyteller to manage and direct strategy, production and execution of video content created for on-campus clients. Reporting to the Director of Marketing Strategy, the incumbent in this role will collaborate within an integrated team of more than 40 marketing and communications professionals to brainstorm video concepts and oversee the creation of high-quality, multi-channel video content.
The ideal candidate is an eager, resourceful and creative video producer experienced in pursuing and developing original ideas to meet various marketing and communications goals. The Video Producer will work collaboratively and strategically to create high-quality, visually compelling content to build awareness, grow audiences and drive engagement. The Video Producer will have experience with all aspects of video production, from concept to completion, including storyboarding, scripting, directing, interviewing, videography and post-production. Knowledge of copyright, image permissions and fair use protocols for video resources are essential elements of the position.
Integrated and Strategic Marketing Communication
As part of a team reporting to the Director of Marketing Strategy, the Video Producer will collaborate with other OUC teams and colleagues in mission-critical departments throughout the University to develop creative concepts that are integrated with institutional messages and strategies.
Creative Service and Video Production
The Video Producer is responsible for planning, overseeing and producing a variety of video and media materials that meet the marketing and communications needs of clients across campus; this includes coordination and collaboration with other video producers across campus for creative use of shared assets.
The Video Producer will be responsible for coordinating and managing the logistics that accompany managing and producing video projects, from location scouting and setup to coordinating interviews and other shoots with interview subjects. This also includes activities that contribute to the maintenance of a productive, organized and professional video communications operation for OUC, which takes the lead on managing Brownâ™s YouTube and Vimeo video channels.
The Video Producer attends relevant meetings, and keeps current on best practices and trends through professional development opportunities.
The Video Producer will maintain and update their own creative and technical skills, and personal knowledge of communication trends, best practices and regulations in their field.
Education and Experience
Bachelorâ™s degree in video production, filmmaking, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
Three to five years of relevant experience (i.e. film, interactive media, video journalism, digital communications, multimedia communications) directly working in videography and video production required
Demonstrated experience in conceiving and producing strong visual stories through video
Ability to produce and edit video to clearly and concisely convey messages that align with client needs
Extensive experience with video equipment and tools supporting video production, including cameras, lighting kits, and lavalier and shotgun microphones
Demonstrated creative eye for innovative composition and design of videos
Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suiteâ™s Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Appleâ™s Final Cut Pro and other A/V editing software
Ability to organize and keep track of large amounts of media
Knowledge of copyright, image permissions and fair use protocols for music and video resources supporting production
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team settingâ”excellent communication and collaborative skills
Capacity to balance multiple projects under deadline constraints and to manage projects gracefully under pressure
Knowledge of graphics and animation
