The Media Services Support Specialist II works independently or as a member of a team, provide quality customer service to the Rinker Health Science campus in Irvine to students, faculty, and staff by providing technical assistance with the audio-visual systems and equipment in the classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and event rooms. Deploy, monitor, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, and application software for PC, Macintosh and iPad computers. Ensure operational stability, efficiency and security of the PC, Macintosh and iOS systems and infrastructure. Troubleshoot, research, and provide recommendations to repair computers, printers, scanners and the university hardware. Train students, faculty, and staff on the operation of the audio and visual equipment, media presentations and lecture capture tools. Receive and process requests for audio-visual and desktop support. Responsible for day to day support and administration of the lecture capture, web conferencing, video content, systems management, video archive, digital signage, video distribution, and desktop systems. Help maintain accurate equipment inventory. Coordinate necessary repairs with vendors. Assign incidents and tasks to technician and student workers using our Service Desk work order system. Video record special events. Edit video and media files for streaming over the web. Provide general maintenance and support on university owned audio-visual (Crestron, Extron, Apple TV), and desktop computer equipment. Provide card services. Monitor and coordinate and provide guidance, and training to technicians and student workers. Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
A minimum of 3 years in providing professional technical support, with proven ability to troubleshoot and fix routine to complex technical problems.
Proficiency with current Microsoft, Macintosh and iOS operating systems and applications, local area networking and TCP/IP technologies.
Strong skills and proven ability in the setup, configuration and use of Windows, Macintosh and iOS Operating Systems, printing and internet.
Proven understanding of Macintosh and Windows hardware, hard drives and data recovery.
Proven understanding of video/audio streaming on a Macintosh and Windows computers.
A strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform duties under general supervision and demonstrate initiative for assignments.
Excellent troubleshooting skills to analyze routine and complex technical problems and formulate and communicate logical and sound conclusions and recommendations.

Related experience in higher education institution.
