Summary of Position:
The European Program Manager is responsible for the successful programmatic development and execution of AVIXA education and membership events within the European region. Content, presenters, venue, food and beverage, and operational aspects are all included in the scope of responsibility. The content at these events will be a mixture of technical and non-technical, as appropriate for each individual event. As AVIXA is highly motivated to broaden its reach and influence outside of the traditional AV channel, the Program Manager, with assistance and guidance from the Director of International Education, will also resource fresh presenters and initiate new conversations focused more on the results of using AV technology. This could also be referred to as “outcomes based” or “customer experience based” content.
AVIXA has offices in Hemel Hempstead , UK and Munich, Germany. This position, although listed for Hemel Hempstead, UK is open to all European cities with additional opportunities for remote work being available.
Major Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
In collaboration with the Director of International Education and regional staff, organize and deliver appropriate educational and conference programs to members and non-members where required. Harmonize program offerings with the unique characteristics of the European region.
Organize content for regional webinars, roundtables and other regional events as required. Organize all logistics, venues and other operational needs for all regional education and membership events including: o Coordinate with various event registration schemes. o Recommend and coordinate the set-up of the meeting room based on the unique needs of the session. o Organize program details including catering and audiovisual. o Consult charts and records to determine space availability for dates and times requested. Determine suitability of space for activities such as meetings, lectures, musical programs, and laboratory work, and assign conference rooms, lecture halls, and other facilities. o Gather, archive, and distribute presentation files as necessary
Maintain solid connection between AVIXA’s strategic plan and all the programs under the responsibility of the position.
Collaborate with ISE tradeshow organizer team on content offerings and timing of AVIXA program at ISE to meet the strategic goals of AVIXA and ISE.
Track and record accurate metrics of events within AVIXA’s CRM system.
Meet established attendance goals for AVIXA education programs and membership events.
Favorably represent AVIXA to the membership and the broader audiovisual community.
Recruit and work with volunteer leaders, instructors, SMEs, and industry professionals on curriculum development projects within Europe, promoting a sense of community with members.
Develop and maintain budgets for the programs in cooperation with regional team and supervisor.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and details simultaneously.
Prioritize projects and tasks, identify risk and apply resources in a timely manner.
Study, develop and continually improve related job skills.
While there are no direct supervisory responsibilities, the Program Manager will be responsible to direct any temporary staff associated with the events being organized.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in conference, meeting or event planning for an international audience. Experience in dealing with multiple cultures, customs and languages.
No certifications are mandatory for this position.
Ability to operate Microsoft Windows computer system with competencies in Microsoft Office applications including Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Ability to quickly learn other new computer applications as required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Culturally and professionally sensitive
Communicate equally well with a wide range of professionals.
Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in English (both written and oral). Additionally, fluency in a second language of either German, Spanish or Italian is preferred.
Must be aware of and be sensitive to the various language variables in the region and how this might affect the education efforts of AVIXA.
International travel, by air, will be required to places where AVIXA does business. Travel could consume 10-20% of a typical year.
The individual must feel comfortable dealing with international travel, currency exchange and navigation in multiple countries.
