The technical advisor works with staff, members and other industry experts to ensure that AVIXA educational content is accurate, relevant and inclusive. The Advisor also writes technical content, researches the sources for technical content and coaches AVIXA learners.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Writes and edits audiovisual technical content.
Recruits and maintains a world class team of volunteer technical subject matter experts to support curriculum development, accuracy, relevance and inclusiveness.
Collaborates with the Learning department on technical content matters such as images, storyboards, demonstrations, and standards.
Revises or creates operating procedures and programs to ensure our content remains accurate, relevant and sustainable.
Assesses learner’s job skills proficiencies taught by our courses.
Analyzes and resolves a variety of complex technical issues through collaboration with industry volunteers and curation of supporting documentation from trusted sources.
Collaborates with other trade and technical associations.
Supports our international team by ensuring that our educational content is regionally dialectical and technically accurate in countries where English is a common language.

Education: ABachelor’s degree in a technical or educational field is required. Extensive professional AV systems designer or consultant experience could be considered as equal.
Experience Level: 10 years as a designer, project manager or technical manager in the audiovisual industry is required. Network industry technical experience is a plus.
Certifications: CTS-D preferred and mandatory within 90 days of employment. Network certifications a plus.
Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of current and relevant audiovisual technology is required. A proven ability to perform typical audiovisual installation, design and project management activities is required. Application level knowledge of network technology is preferred. Proven proficiency as a technical writer and editor is highly regarded.
Other skills: Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required. Proficiency in typical office productivity and technical design tools like Microsoft Office, Visio and AutoCAD LT are highly regarded. Social media presence and proficiency is a plus.
