This position reports to the Director of Events Management.
The Office of Events Management is a fast paced department managing small to large scale meetings and events. The position requires strong technical skills focused on Audio Visual systems. Responsibilities includes the support of the daily operations for audio visual setup, operation, maintenance and equipment repair for college owned equipment. Sound, lighting and projection are the main technical disciplines used along with advanced system set ups. There is heavy first-line troubleshooting during live events. The position is also responsible for the daily inspection of overall appearance of spaces managed by the department which includes and not limited to room configuration, cleanliness and the ability to set up furniture. This role must possess superior customer service skills and the ability to effectively communicate with event organizers during live events to ensure overall client satisfaction.
Manage and train events staff on standard operating policies and procedures for audio visual equipment operations
Perform pre-event checks as required
Coordinate and collaborate with external contractors and internal service departments for equipment maintenance and replacement
Supervise contractors and vendors when performing work onsite
Create av training materials/maintain av office manual
Host audio visual training workshops to the college campus community
Testing of audio cables, HDMI, DVI and VGA
Responsible for all inventory that includes weekly/monthly stock levels
Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced event driven environment and possess strong problem skills while maintaining composure and professionalism
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously; time management skills are critical
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, results are defined and existing practices are used as guidelines to carry out work activities independently; supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems
Ability to use patterns, trends, and precedents to analyze situations and determine appropriate course of action or approach to solving problems
Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to communicate with all levels within the organization
Energetic, positive, proactive and ability to multitask and be able to work to the highest quality standards with attention to detail
Ability to lift 50lbs
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends as needed
Associates’ Degree with minimum of 2 – 4 years’ experience working with live events in a technical discipline in the following disciplines: Audio, Video, Computer and Lighting.
Knowledge of concepts, best practices and procedures in operating audio visual systems ( PA Systems and Wireless Microphones).
Technical knowledge of touch screen and web-based control technology for Crestron .
Proven experience producing and troubleshooting small to large scale events using company owned AV system hardware (audio system/wireless mics/projector)
PC and MAC Proficiency
