Position Description: Installing multimedia equipment, removing and reinstalling substitute A/V or computer equipment, evaluating old equipment in order to prioritize repairs and upgrades. Provide excellent customer service in high demand situations in a timely, effective and courteous manner. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation of Crestron/AMX control units and touch panels, Extron audio/video equipment, and Dell computer hardware.
Installation, termination, and testing of audio/video cabling using proper procedures and standards.
Provide web conference and lecture/classroom capture support to faculty, staff, and students.
Communicate orally and in writing with faculty, UCIT staff, University college/department, personnel (e.g. to obtain and disseminate information, resolve discrepancies, respond to customer concerns, and maintain good working relationships in the course of assigned work, and to offer training to users on audio/video equipment, etc.).
Maintain departmental inventory of AV/IT equipment.
Assist with departmental imaging and monitoring applications.
Test equipment and interpretation of test results.
Assist in building and integrating new instructor workstations, as new classrooms require.
Obtain and or maintain certifications in related technical fields.
Work independently with minimal supervision required.
Ability to be flexible in responding to changes in schedules and job priorities.
Special projects as assigned by direct manager.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related degree; -OR- an Associate's degree with two (2) years of experience ; or four (4) years of basic to intermediate level computer hardware related experience.
Possesses working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures and contributes through support, using established processes, methods, and systems.
Must have excellent customer service attitude and excellent communication skills. Experience in supporting use and maintaining/troubleshooting electronic classroom presentation equipment using smart control systems (i.e., AMX or Crestron), such as data projectors, document cameras, audio/video matrix routers. Ability to be flexible in responding to changes in schedules and job priorities. Ability to recognize and use industry standards. Ability to acquire additional skills to maintain technical and professional skills. Good communication skills. InfoComm CTS certification preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret schematics and architectural drawings, demonstrate experience with recent version of Windows OS and MS Office suite products, and understand basic networking.
This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
