NSU University School is seeking a Media Production specialist to teach film, television, and other media arts, to oversee the state-of-the-art production studio (U-Studio), and to lead student teams in producing content for school media outlets and film festivals worldwide. Qualified candidates will be able to teach both introductory and advanced level courses in media production, including skills in digital editing, sound engineering, graphic design, broadcast journalism, and studio production. The teacher will lead student teams in producing content for WUTV, the student-run broadcast news station, as well recording school events. In addition to film and TV production, Media Production classes offer students the opportunity to record Automated Dialog Replacement (ADR) for post-production and foley sound effects for rebuilding sound environments, to record and produce original music with vocal tracks and instrumentation, and to produce podcasts, audiobooks, and radio shows. While expertise in all areas of media production is not required, qualified candidates will demonstrate a willingness to learn and the ability to help students access the training necessary for growth and achievement.
Teach Middle and Upper School Media Production classes.
Work closely with the Directors and Visual Arts Team Leader to develop and align curricula.
Work with the Media Production teacher at the Lower and Middle School to ensure vertical alignment between Lower and Middle School.
Implement best practices in art education pedagogy based on student-centered learning and responsive teaching methods.
Communicate consistently with parents and school counselors about student progress.
Create a welcoming environment that reflects the school’s mission of challenging each student to achieve academic excellence within a nurturing atmosphere.
Attend department, team, and faculty meetings.
Attend other events as directed by the Director or Associate Director of Arts.
In conjunction with the Directors, conduct research to identify opportunities for student participation in competitions, festivals, workshops, and conventions.
Plan, organize, and promote field trips to student competitions and festivals.
In partnership with the OIIT Department, continuously organize, maintain, and update the Media Production resources.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for student use of materials and equipment.
Design and implement rubrics for evidence-based evaluation of student performance and mastery.
Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
Identify opportunities to highlight student works in the community.
Produce the NSU University School Annual Film Festival.
Ideal candidate will
Operate the components of our advanced production studio: vocal booth, dual touchscreen Slate Raven, NDI cameras, lights, and sound recording.

Bachelor or advanced degree in the film/video/cinema arts, an interactive media-related field, or a field relevant to the duties of the position with significant experience working with Media Production as well as associated AV technology.
At least 4 years of experience in production and post-production audio and video technologies and software, and/or a willingness to learn Adobe CC (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, etc.), Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, iZotope RX7 Production Suite, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, etc.
Preferably 2 or more years of teaching experience, including curriculum design with integration of media arts in the classroom.
Experience in Television Production and/or the field of broadcast journalism.
Knowledge of effective instructional techniques and innovative modes of course delivery adaptable to a variety of learning styles.
Familiarity with narrative and illustrative conventions and techniques in temporal media and in executing projects from concept to polished production.
Demonstrated ability to create, advocate for, and execute a long-term vision for programmatic growth.
Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to articulate technical information to non-technical students and faculty.
Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated ability to network and build a team of well-rounded media arts professionals in the community.
Willingness to adapt in a fast-paced work environment where roles and responsibilities are flexible.
Bachelor's Degree In field or 12 credits in field
