Summary of Position: The Instructional Designer is responsible for instructional design workflow and developing adult technical education programs for the audiovisual industry.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Execute and improve instructional design workflow for projects with varying timelines and deliverables. Author project status reports and summaries.
Liaise with subject matter experts (SME) and volunteer groups and facilitate project meetings.
Create multimedia materials using presentation software, rapid-development tools and image/audio/video software to support instructional design.
Storyboard multimedia learning objects such as videos or animated/interactive art.
Create new course materials working with industry experts and other team members, and by researching technical documentation.
Work with faculty, subject matter experts and learners to specify gaps, needs and desired outcomes.
Build new courses and edit existing ones in our Learning Content Management System, applying a Reusable Learning Object (RLO) model. Adhere to the LCMS or CMS business and system rules.
Write trainer’s notes, participant materials, and other documents.
Analyze, write and revise assessments.
Work with our Marketing, Communications and Certification teams to increase course utilization and help them meet their goals and metrics.
Work with our International team to provide translation-ready courses.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree preferred
A minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design or curriculum development.
Experience working with subject matter experts
Experience using image/audio/video software to support instructional design.
Experience creating adult learning content for technical training courses.
Experience with LCMS authoring and management systems a plus
Strong writing and editing skills, including a demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise English
Proven and demonstrated ability to create multimedia materials using presentation software, rapid-development tools and image/audio/video software to support instructional design.
