We are currently seeking a full-time, client-dedicated Director of Engineering to work out of our headquarters location in Bloomington, Illinois. This leadership position works directly with our CIO. Relocation Assistance is available.
The Director of Engineering leads the engineering team to serve our sales and operations teams by designing and documenting simple solutions to complex problems through non-traditional thinking.
Partner with Sales to collect market trends as individual customer standards
Partner with Staging to design complete systems that are easy to stage
Partner with Field Operations to design complete systems that are easy to install
Partner with Technology to design and document complete systems that are easy to support
Set and maintain tight engineering deadlines
Audit / review work of engineers to maintain Quality Assurance
Interface with consulting groups
Develop, maintain, administer design documentation standards.
Develop, maintain, administer departmental trainings for internal products and process as well as external products and process.
Partner with sales to collect relevant information essential for starting the quote process.
Accompany salesperson to client meetings/jobsite visits as necessary.
Generate full job-cost quotes.
Provide accurate job costs for design build projects in conjunction with the sales team.
Provide accurate measurements and calculations to support AV system designs.
Provide detailed material list and account for all job costs associated with projects assigned.
Create accurate project estimation from a needs analysis or set of bid documents which typically consists of a set of job drawings and specification book.
After a project has been awarded, create submittal and installation documentation that is required of a given project.
Produce all system drawings and documentation that is required of the project, including but not limited to one-line documents, rack elevations, BOM, Change Orders, RFI’s, O&M manuals, close-out documentation and as-built documentation and drawings.
Prepare layouts and programming of digital signal processors and system tuning as required.
Prepare system narratives as required
Troubleshoot any issues in the field at the request of assistance from a Lead Installer.
Understand the theory needed to troubleshoot in-field issues and call upon the appropriate resource in situations when a timely resolution cannot be accomplished.
Maintain a positive customer interaction throughout every job and perform work with the best interest of RoomReady in mind.
Travel to client locations to install and/or troubleshoot AV issues as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Design Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
CTS-D or relative Experience
10+ Years as Design Engineer
2+ Years in leadership role of Engineering Department
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel Outlook).
Strong aptitude and desire to learn new AV and IoT design and systems engineering.
Strong written communication skills
Proficiency in digital signal processing software.
Valid Driver’s License.
Understanding of agile development processes
5+ Years of engineering leadership experience
2+ years of experience working in the Audio/Visual Field.
Working knowledge of design programs such as AutoCAD, Stardraw, Visio or other CAD programs.
Must be able to travel to client locations located throughout the United States and abroad, as necessary.
Ability to stoop, bend, kneel up to 10% of the time.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds regularly, 75 pounds occasionally.
Ability to communicate and interact verbally, both in person and over the phone.
Ability to use personal computers and other office equipment effectively.
Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of the work assigned.
Ability to travel to and from assigned work location.
