Computing Services at CMU is seeking a Senior AV Technician to join the team. In this position, you will be responsible for providing superior operational support to the University with a focus on Teaching & Learning services.
You will primarily be responsible for providing support in the following areas:
Technologies for Learning Environments
Testing, maintaining, inspecting, and fixing the technical AV equipment associated with technology improved facilities on campus with a focus on department-controlled facilities
Share a point of view and recommendations to the Technology Enhanced Facilities services for not only registrar spaces; but also partners around campus
Coordinate and fulfill orders for AV services
Maintain a catalog of equipment each department/organization owns
Fix complex printing issues
Mentor lower level technologists in support of the University mission.
Help develop and improve on processes for Technology Enhanced Facility services
Support Assistant Manager hiring, training, and mentoring
Your other responsibilities will include:
Performing testing of all sources and functions for AV presentation and videoconferencing systems for all SLA contracted spaces. Performing preventative maintenance equipment cleaning, basic first-level troubleshooting and problem resolution, crafting inspection tickets
Creating and advancing tickets for unresolved issues found in inspections. Responding to trouble calls and assisting with second level troubleshooting and problem resolution
Working on the knowledge base for developments articles for trouble call procedures, and Computing Services AV design standards, and solving procedures related problems
Keeping records regarding inventory of equipment. Locating and retrieving missing equipment and/or notifying manager of missing equipment. Maintaining catalog of equipment the organization owns
Performing other related duties as assigned
Associate's Degree or equivalent experience required
1-3 years of relevant work experience required
Deep understanding of signal paths and signal manipulation required
Familiarity with videoconferencing camera setup and codec settings
Strong problem solving and reasoning skill required
Strong customer service and technical/troubleshooting skills
Strong oral & written communication skills
