The UMKC Department of Information Services is seeking a part-time Audiovisual Installation and Service Technician who is team-oriented and known for their attention to detail, accuracy and ability to take initiative.
Located in Flarsheim Hall on the Volker campus, this individual will mainly be working to inspect, repair and ensure the proper operation of audiovisual equipped systems throughout the Volker campus buildings. This individual will perform both proactive and reactive AV services in support of campus initiatives and projects. Candidates must be able to perform job tasks in a busy environment with frequent interruptions, while meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work.
Successful applicants will be organized, detail-oriented individuals, who can remain calm and problem solve in fast-paced situations. This individual will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to our faculty, staff, students, and community. Work performed is often time sensitive, therefore multitasking skills are very important. Duties include but are not limited to:
Inspect classroom audiovisual equipment systems daily to ensure system operation prior to class.
Repair and adjust audiovisual equipment: projectors, document cameras, microphones, public address systems, speakers and related audiovisual equipment
Work with full-time AV staff to replace worn parts, lens and lamps, rewire equipment, and service equipment as needed
Set up portable equipment systems in accordance with portable system delivery schedule (provided)
Maintain and report daily service logs of system checks
High school graduate or equivalent
Knowledge of the principles of electronics, ability to make repairs on audiovisual equipment, and operate equipment
Knowledge in the operation of audiovisual equipment
Mechanical aptitude and physical coordination
Ability to communicate and relate well with academic and student personnel
Bachelor's degree in electronics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired, is necessary
Two years of work experience in experience in commercial audio visual installations that included projectors, screens, displays, wiring, cabling, computer controls, and rack-building or related experience is necessary – or – Five years of work experience in residential that included home theaters, structured wiring and Smart house designs is necessary
Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) Certification is Preferred
Possession of other industry certifications such as AMX, Crestron, or Extron Installation certification

$13.00 - $16.00/hr
5:00am - 9:00am
