The Director of Content Development at AVIXA is responsible for guiding and implementing the creation of new content that bolsters the association’s brand reputation for thought leadership and increases the value of membership among both existing stakeholders and new audience groups. The right candidate will be creative and intellectually curious, have a strong commercial and entrepreneurial sensibility, and be capable of working collaboratively across departments within the association and with external partners.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Program direction, speaker acquisition/management, and budgeting/forecasting for face-to-face conference content at the following AVIXA events:
Thought Leadership tracks of U.S. InfoComm tradeshow
AV Executive Conference
Other events as developed
Liaison with AVIXA’s Learning Department to ensure the thought leadership component of the association’s content offering complements that of its training/learning offering, both at the U.S. InfoComm tradeshow and year-round
In conjunction with the Director of Strategic Relationships, work with volunteer editorial boards to ensure that real-world feedback on the business value of AV products and services informs ongoing content development
Monitoring of post-event surveys, industry market intelligence, registration demographics, and other sources of data to ensure continued relevance of AVIXA content to target audiences. Using data, overseeing the feedback loop and recommend course changes as needed.
Creation and implementation of video strategy that ensures the timely capture, editing, and distribution of assets from AVIXA’s face-to-face events, as well as other video content that may be used to provide value to the different tiers of AVIXA membership
Development, in conjunction with AVIXA’s Sales & Marketing Department, of content strands that create new attendee/member acquisition and sponsorship opportunities for the association
Contractual and operational management of content vendors to ensure that all commissioned content is delivered to pre-agreed budgets and timelines
In conjunction with peers in the Content & Communications Department, lead and/or participate in the creation of white papers, trend reports, audio and video programming, webinars, and other content materials that support AVIXA’s Content, Market Intelligence, and Industry Awareness initiatives
Experience of content planning and implementation for B2B events, including tradeshows and conferences
Experience of editorial commissioning in a B2B publishing environment
Experience of working with content sponsors to ensure appropriate packaging and implementation of deliverables
A track record of audience and revenue growth derived from face-to-face, published and online content development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (writing sample required)
Track record of working successfully in cross department and multi-function teams
Excellent inter-personal and project management skills
The ability to analyze data to influence program development
Attention to detail
Experience of working internationally and/or in a technology-related field desirable, but not required
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in media or a related fieldpreferred
Minimum 8 years of content design and implementation in a B2B environment preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including photo, video, and web editing platforms, an advantage
